About me

My career in the field of technology began as a Systems Engineer, where I honed my skills in Active Directory, Exchange, and a variety of networking technologies including wireless, switching, and firewalls. It was here that I discovered my passion for networking and security, which guided the trajectory of my career.

Transitioning into a role as a Networking and Security Consultant, I eventually took on the responsibility of a lead security architect. In this capacity, I specialized in designing robust security architectures and implementing a wide array of cybersecurity tools such as endpoint security, Network Access Control (NAC), Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW), URL/DNS security, Network Traffic Analysis (NTA), and Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB). These six years in consultancy sharpened my ability to deliver tailored, effective security solutions across diverse environments.

I then progressed to the role of a Security Architect in Operational Technology (OT) / Industrial Control Systems (ICS), working with a Belgian Distribution System Operator (DSO) as a Freelancer. In this role, my primary focus was on developing an OT security architecture aligned with compliance requirements like NIS, NIS2, and the IEC 62443 standard. My responsibilities encompassed risk management and performing thorough risk assessments, ensuring a secure and compliant operational environment.

Beyond my hands-on technical roles, I have a passion for education and knowledge sharing. I lecture at Thomas More in their evening education program, covering subjects such as cybersecurity, DevOps, and networking for associate degree students. Additionally, I am enthusiastic about delivering cybersecurity awareness training, leveraging my extensive field experience to educate and empower others in navigating the complex landscape of digital security.
